WEATHER FORECAST

I haven't looked at the long range weather forecast. But I probably don't need to. The birdsong here has risen in volume and complexity in a very marked way. Spring-like weather must be coming. I hear it in the first birdsong of the day (not yet fully a chorus) and in the immense range of instructions the jackdaws are issuing from the old black poplar. Something's up. Not an alarm. Something else.

  1. Tis nice to hear that spring is potentially springing..Ironically - feeling the need to read the blogs from time to time to hear news of the North !

  2. At last! A post I feel that I am able to reply to. The weather is a subject I’ve been asked to comment on before, most recently 36 minutes ago when I was asked to agree with someone’s contention that it was a bit chilly today. I therefore consider myself a bit of an expert. Of course, having had an sheltered upbringing which included plenty of Sunday afternoon visits to maiden aunts, the “weather” became not only a topic of conversation, but in some cases a communication lifeline. It was the only subject that could breach the barrier between an awkward 23 year old going through puberty and a hairy-lipped matronly women in a floral print who had clearly got my share of dynastic testosterone. My personal best was 17 minutes of conversation about a fairly dank day in March before the conversation faltered and Auntie was forced out to get out doilies to stick under the Fondant Fancies on the cake tier.
The weather really is a great leveller. For example, I can imagine speaking about the sharp frost we had this morning to, oh let’s say, the lead singer of Franz Ferdinand and the Local Area Manager (South West) for Greggs in exactly the same way. What other subject allows you converse so naturally with both a rock god and an agent of the devil? None I can think of.
Anyway, in answer to your question, yes, its is nice out today!
